5 Signs You Need To See A Dentist

Life gets so busy sometimes that it can pass by in a flash, our daily responsibilities take over and important things like health appointments end up taking a back seat. Unfortunately for some people this can mean that they wake up one day with a problem or pain.

How do you know you need to see the dentist?

  1. If it has been longer than 6 months since your last check up appointment. We advise that you have a check up every 6 months to help keep your teeth healthy.
  2. Sensitive teeth. Sensitive teeth can be caused by a few different factors from receding gums to tooth decay. We advise you get this checked before the problem gets worse.
  3. Bleeding gums. Bleeding gums is a sign of gingivitis. If this is left to progress, it can lead to areas of gum disease which can eventually lead to tooth loss.
  4. Bad breath. This can be caused by several different things; bacteria in the mouth, diet, acid reflux, dry mouth, medication and gum disease. Until the cause is addressed, the problem will hang around.
  5. Broken teeth and lost fillings. Sometimes we can break a tooth or lose a filling and after the initial shock has passed, it can be forgotten about if it hasn’t caused pain. Just because there isn’t any pain, it doesn’t mean you should leave it. Decay can spread silently and if it gets too far then the tooth might not be saved.
