The Team

Sanjay has been the clinical director at the Bank House Dental Centre since 2005 and has nearly 30 years’ experience as a dentist, including over 20 years placing dental implants. He qualified with Honours from the University of Leeds in 1998, gaining a Distinction in Dental Public Health, then followed this with a further year of postgraduate training at Oxford University. In 2002 he obtained a Fellowship from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and in 2007 a Postgraduate Diploma in Restorative Dental Practice from the Eastman Dental Institute. He has travelled extensively, attending conventions and postgraduate courses to keep up to date with the latest developments in cosmetic and implant dentistry.

As well as implants, Sanjay has a particular interest in minimally invasive dentistry: keeping as much natural tooth as possible and saving teeth wherever he can. His love of technology and gadgets carries into the surgery, where he uses an intra-oral scanner and camera to show patients exactly what is happening in their mouths.

Sanjay lives near Amersham with his wife Fiona, their three children, and their cat and dog. Outside dentistry he has kept up his love of science, graduating with a First Class Honours degree in Astronomy from the University of Lancashire. In other words, he’s a bit of a geek!

Anael Loyaerts

Ana is an experienced dental hygienist who brings over 11 years of valuable experience in the dental field. She began her career as a dental nurse, building a strong foundation of knowledge and patient care before progressing into dental hygiene.

One of Ana’s greatest strengths lies in her ability to support and reassure nervous patients. Her calm, caring, and compassionate manner helps put patients at ease, creating a comfortable and welcoming environment throughout their visit.

With her extensive background in dentistry, Ana is passionate about promoting excellent oral health and takes pride in educating patients on effective hygiene techniques and preventative care. She is dedicated, meticulous, and committed to providing thorough, personalised treatment, ensuring every patient feels confident in their dental care journey.

Anupama Gupta

Anupama qualified as a dentist in India and registered with GDC as a dental hygienist since October 2022. She has special interest in gum disease. Anu firmly believes that having a healthy mouth is an essential part in having a healthy lifestyle.

She will work with you to find the easiest and most effective way of keeping your mouth clean and healthy. Her passion is to deliver excellent patient care and training which enables patients to significantly improve their oral hygiene.

Outside of work, Anu loves spending time with her family. She enjoys classical Indian dance and yoga.

Riya Thapa joined the practice in 2021, and she is our new Practice Manager after Maryann who was with us for 36 years and now retired. Riya is responsible for the smooth operation of the practice, organising the dental team and ensuring that the highest level of service is provided to each patient.
Riya enjoys travelling and spending time with family and friends.

Maria Mocanu

Maria started working as a Dental Nurse at the practice since October, 2020. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking different types of food from all over the world. She enjoys learning new languages, cultures and exploring new things.

Sonia Mahmood

About her: Sonia joined the team in February 2023 as a qualified dental nurse. Sonia enjoys nursing for a range of different dental treatments.

In her spare time Sonia likes to spend time with her family, goes to the gym and enjoys having spa days outside of work.

Nicole Trafford

Nicole has been a dental nurse since 1989. Throughout her career she’s worked with consultants and specialist dentists, enjoying all aspects of dentistry from simple procedures to complex surgeries. Her main goal is to ensure patient comfort and efficiently assist the dentist or hygienist for a smooth journey.

In her spare time Nicole enjoys cooking for family and friends and travelling.
